2016 figures show big boost in Revelstoke development
2016 was a bumper year for Revelstoke development-wise, with high figures compared to previous years.
In 2016 the total value of building permits was $19,342,904 — 28.6 per cent more than 2015. 2016 saw a significant increase in residential construction with 38 new homes (compared to 15 in 2015) and these represented 80 per cent of 2016’s total building permit value.
These figures are part of the City of Revelstoke’s development activity 2016 year end report.

180 building permits were issued in 2016 compared to 209 in 2015, although the total value of the construction work was higher in 2016.
The trend of increased activity is expected to continue into 2017.
“With several commercial and multi-family projects scheduled to proceed this year along with an anticipated further increase in the number of single family dwellings to be constructed, development services is anticipated to have a further increase in activity in 2017,” previous manager of development services Dean Strachan wrote in his report. Strachan finished work with the City of Revelstoke on Dec. 30, 2016.
