The Revelstoke Community Foundation (RCF) supported 15 different local organizations through various established funds through RCF’s endowment at a Tuesday, April 20 celebration hosted at the Revelstoke Railway Museum.

Created in 1999 to mark Revelstoke’s 100th anniversary of incorporation, the foundation has distributed over $1.6 million in legacy funding to numerous organizations, events and projects located in Revelstoke.

“We’re really proud of being able to consistently and sustainably support our community,” Tracy Spannier, RCF chair said.

Roughly $67,000 was presented to local organizations including Revelstoke Adaptive Sports Program, Revelstoke United Church Outreach and Revelstoke Museum and Archives for ongoing programming and new projects.

Providing funds for Revelstoke-focused projects offers reassurance for organizations submitting for RCF grants, Robyn Goldsmith, Arts Revelstoke executive director said.

When every grant proposal submitted takes up limited staff time to write, organizations need to be selective on where to put energy, and Goldsmith pointed to Arts Revelstoke’s Art Alleries as a unique project appreciated by the community but challenging to  explain to grant organizers outside of Revelstoke.

“It’s nice to have these folks who recognize the existing work of your organization and understand the importance of that continuity,” she said.

Over the past few years local organizations have seen grant streams growing more competitive or drying up all together as funding  drops, and RCF saw an increase in applications this year. Representatives attended the 2026 Resident Directed (ReDi) grant presentation night in preparation for ReDi grant proposals to also be pitched for RCF funding.

“We have a chance to hear more about projects, hear what’s being offered,” Spannier said. “It’s important for us as a committee to be aware of what else has happened in the community, and what other impacts we might have with the granting.”

From Revelstoke Mountain Resort donating proceeds from every Locals Day event to families who set up memorial funds, RCF donations come from all parts of Revelstoke, sometimes with specific focuses such as arts or sports.

“We’re trying to make sure that the impact that we’re having is sort of across the board, for different age groups, different focuses, different areas of the community. We’re looking at heritage projects, we’re looking at children and families, we’re looking at education and health, all of those things as parts of our community,” she said.
