Cabin Fever at Revelstoke Mountain Resort attracted riders and skiers for one last weekend May 2–3 for a special course that included jumps, snake runs and special obstacles around the mountain. Agnes Kowalczuk of The Cabin in Revelstoke provided this thank-you for all those who made it happen:
Cabin Fever stems from a pure desire to be able to get one more epic day of spring snow slashing on the mountain that has so much amazing natural terrain, our home Revelstoke Mountain Resort. We want to share our passion and love of the mountains with like-minded snow lovers and bring them an opportunity of and unforgettable experience. May brings together the best of both seasons, where you can enjoy a game of golf, fish or bike in the morning, and slide on snow in the afternoon and evening.

It’s not just another ordinary day on the mountain. Critical Path and Hollywood runs off the Stoke Chair at Revelstoke Mountain Resort are transformed into a park lover’s paradise. Jumps and features are built into the natural terrain of the mountain. There were table tops, spines, hips, and step ups that satisfy every rider type and ability level. This year we added a mini pipe and bowl, as well as a 12-turn banked slalom course. The rest of the runs were blessed with some fresh snow for some fun cruise-y turns as well, which made for some of the best late spring conditions.

Imagine riding into the alpenglow at 7 p.m. in the evening. Last chair is at 7:30 p.m. and you are taking in the breathtaking views during sunset. Then warming by a huge bonfire and listening to some magic beats, basking in the afterglow of an exhilarating day. Even though this event is riding-focused, there are certainly reasons to just come up in street clothes and enjoy the view and festivities happening at the top of the gondola till 9 p.m. Most people were energized and ready to play long after the sun goes down as we bring the party back into downtown. This family friendly event has something for kids, parents, skiers, boarders, and sightseers.

We would also like to mention Aaron, Mat, Matt and Anna from Columbia Valley Skateboard Association for manning the beer tent. We would also like to thank Rob, Dan, Peter and Mike from Revelstoke Mountain Resort for their support and allowing us to put on this event, as well as all the RMR staff that made it possible. Bill and Andy for their CAT driving skills and early starts. Al Clark and Troy for the major help with design, flow, shaping, and overall fun creators. Jay, Sara, Corrie, Bryce, Emily, Owen, Big-E, Joel L, Dunny, and Agnes for volunteering all the help to make this possible. Joel at the Village Idiot filling everyone’s bellies with delicious barbecue. All the people that bought tickets and still donated time to help make it better. A thank you for your support to the locals that made it up as well as a big thanks to those that travelled from afar!
