The Government of B.C. announced the province’s Restart plan today. Focusing on reopening the economy, resuming travel, and increasing gatherings, some restrictions have been lifted immediately.
Currently, the province is in Stage One of the reopening plan. As of May 25, indoor dining has resumed for groups of up to six people. Additionally, dining with others outside your household or bubble is allowed.
Outdoor personal gatherings of up to 10 people are permitted, and residents can host small indoor gatherings of five people or two households.
Recreational travel within health regions can resume, although non-essential travel is still discouraged between health regions.
For Revelstoke, this means the tourism industry can immediately begin welcoming residents from the entire Northern and Interior Health regions.

Additionally, low-intensity indoor fitness classes can reopen, and outdoor sports for all age groups are allowed. However, outdoor games are limited to local teams only, and spectators are not permitted.
The long-term provincial reopening strategy is directly tied to COVID-19 case counts, vaccination rates, and COVID-19 hospitalizations. At the moment, the province is looking to move to the next stage of reopening on June 15.
Stage Two of reopening sees recreational travel encouraged within the entire province. However, travel between provinces is not encouraged until Stage Three of reopening, slated for July 1 at the earliest.
Under the current reopening plan, pre-pandemic life could return in early September. This includes concerts and other larger gatherings.
For now, chief provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry emphasizes that outdoor activities remain the safest option for residents.
