The Mountaineer Volunteer is a pay-it-forward feature in the Revelstoke Mountaineer that highlights the great work volunteers do to make Revelstoke a true community. We feature a new volunteer who then nominates the volunteer to be featured next.

1. Where do you volunteer?

Selkirk Saddle Club, Revelstoke Skating Club, Revelstoke Youth Soccer Association.

2. What are your volunteer duties?

I am the secretary with the Selkirk Saddle Club as well as the Skating Club and a team manager with RYSA. Duties are whatever needs to be done. LOL! One of the major duties for both clubs is fundraising.

3. Why do you volunteer for your organization?

I volunteer because I like to be involved in my kids’ activities but mainly because I like to use my skills to benefit others.

4. For you, what’s rewarding about volunteering?

I don’t know how to put that into words really. I have a need to do things for others. I am told all the time that I do too much for others and not enough for myself but what people don’t understand is doing things for others makes me feel good, which ultimately is doing something for me.
