This year, the Revelstoke Local Food Initiative’s annual Farm-to-Table fundraiser dinner is coming to you. The event is a locally sourced, four-course dinner curated by local chef Josh White and best of Revelstoke’s local growing community: Terra Firma Farm, Track Street Growers, Greenslide Cattle Co., First Light Farm and Wild Flight Farm.
Over the years, Revelstoke foodies have helped make the fundraiser dinners a sell-out event, but with COVID-19 restrictions in place on social gatherings, the LFI wanted to offer the experience in a more intimate way.
“You can treat your significant other to a date night, invite some friends for a meal, or just treat yourself to a dinner of Okanagan red wine braised beef shank with local herbs, or a glazed roasted squash with a baharat and herb salt. As always, the menu can be customized for vegans, and those with gluten and/or dairy allergies,” said a statement from the LFI.
“We had started planning for this event in February, and when COVID happened we ended up cancelling it before we could even get started. A few months have passed, BC has entered phase 3 of re-opening, and the LFI thought that now, more than ever, Revelstoke food enthusiasts needed a reason to celebrate,” said Kate Borucz, the coordinator for the event. “We are mindful of the challenges that come with planning a fundraising dinner event in the midst of a global pandemic. Our kitchen and prep space is fully sanitized, our chef and cook team is quite small, and deliveries will be made with masks and gloves on, with as little personal contact as possible.”
There is also an option to purchase a “pay it forward” meal, giving you the ability to give the gift of Harvest at Home. The LFI has partnered with local food access programs (Community Connection’s Food Recovery Program and the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program) to distribute these meals to participants that would not be able to join us otherwise. The annual Farm-to-Table dinner takes place on Saturday, September 12. Tickets are available online for $65 or $120 for dinner for two, through the LFI website.
