Okanagan College’s Citizenship & Immigration Canada Program a great success thanks to their Community Partners and Volunteers
As year one of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Program comes to an end on March 31, 2015, Okanagan College would like to thank the following community partners for their valuable contributions to this program during the 2014/2015 year.
The Revelstoke Child Care Resource and Referral and the Revelstoke Child Care Society for helping us find and secure licensed child care for our Family-Friendly English Practice Groups. Thanks to our wonderful childcare providers Olivia, Terry and Naoko.
Community Connections for welcoming us to use your facility and for providing child care, so our newcomer parents could access Family-Friendly English Practice Groups.
The Revelstoke Child Care Society and the Revelstoke Early Childhood Development Committee for providing information and assistance to newcomer families with school-aged children to help them to integrate into the school system.
School District #19 for providing in-class and one-to-one education assistance for newcomer children.
School District #19 and Community Literacy, for allowing us to use the Community Literacy Room and the Strong Start space at Begbie View for Family-Friendly English Practice Groups and workshops.
WCG International & Karen Maeers, Certified Career Practitioner for facilitating employment workshops for new immigrant employers and jobseekers in the community and for facilitating workshops on diversity topics for business owners and community members in Revelstoke.
Volunteer tutors for the English as a Second Language Settlement Assistance Program at Okanagan College for working one-to-one with newcomers to help them improve their English.
The Revelstoke Arts Council for generously donating tickets to their wonderful performances, so that new immigrants could experience and enjoy the music and arts of Canada at the beautiful Performing Arts Centre.
