The Full Speed Rentals storage building, located off of Highway 1 west of Revelstoke, has collapsed.

The business is known for snowmobile, snow bike, dirt bike and side-by-side rentals. They also offer a storage service to customers looking to protect boats, RVs, trailers, and other large recreational vehicles during the winter months. The exact time of the collapse is unknown.

Revelstoke Mountaineer staff reached out to Full Speed Rentals, but the business declined to comment. The main retail building is separate from the storage building and didn’t suffer damage.

Full Speed Rentals is located just off Highway 1, west of Revelstoke, in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Area B.

When Mountaineer staff reached out to the CSRD for comment, a spokesperson for the regional government said it hadn’t heard about the incident but had this to say: “The Columbia Shuswap Regional District’s Electoral Area B had building inspection brought into effect in 2018. Prior to that, there were no regulations in the area designed to ensure building complied with local area snow loads and the BC Building Code. We cannot provide further comments until we receive more information about this incident.”

A Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services spokesperson said the department had not received a call about the incident as of Jan. 6, when we reached out to them for comment.
