Elected candidates for Revelstoke School District No. 19 were sworn into their four-year term as the board of education trustees today, Monday, October 31, 2022.

Tisdale congratulated the new trustees, stating that they will have the chance to impact roughly 1500 students during the four-year term — approximately 1100 current students and the 400 more that will enter Revelstoke’s school district over the next several years.

On behalf of the school board, Tisdale recognized the meeting as former Superintendent of Schools Mike Hooker’s last official day. Also recognized for their service to School District No. 19, former trustees Bill MacFarlane, Elmer Rorstad, and Garry Pendergast — all of whom did not run for re-election in the 2022 local election.

MacFarlane served as Revelstoke Board of Education chair for seven out of eight years as a trustee. Rorstad spent 11 years as a trustee, chairing the finance and facilities committee.

The current Superintendent of Schools, Roberta Kubik, congratulated the new board and the opportunity they have to represent “every child, every chance, every day.”
