City issues algae bloom advisory for Williamson Lake, questions reveal no regular water quality monitoring at popular city swimming spot

The City of Revelstoke has issued notice of an algae bloom at Williamson Lake, advising residents to avoid direct contact with the bloom. Revelstokemountaineer.com questions this week to the city, Interior Health and the Ministry of Environment found the city does no regular water quality testing at the lake and does not participate in an Interior Health program that monitors water quality at natural swimming areas.
