Revelstoke RCMP participated with several other RCMP detachments in B.C. and Alberta in pursuit of a vehicle that fled a traffic stop in Banff on Nov. 25.

In a media release, Cpl. Thomas Blakney of the Revelstoke RCMP said the incident started on Wednesday after the vehicle failed to stop in Banff.

This led to a pursuit westbound on the Trans-Canada that involved the Revelstoke, Sicamous, and Salmon Arm detachments, as well as the RCMP Southeast District Traffic Services.

In the end, a man ditched out of the vehicle in question on a logging road near Canoe, B.C., where police accompanied by a police dog later apprehended a 57-year-old man from Saskatchewan.

Police allege the man was behind the wheel in the pursuit. “The male driver remains in custody,” Blakney said in a statement. “Investigators are continuing the investigation into the reasons as to why the man caused a multi-jurisdictional pursuit.”
