Brief: MVI 12 kilometres west of Revelstoke leads to Tran-Canada closure Tuesday night

An MVI west of Revelstoke Tuesday night has closed the highway overnight. DriveBC is estimating the reopening time at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Update: 12:25 a.m.:

DriveBC has now pushed the reopening time to 6 a.m. with the next update at 4 a.m.

No official confirmed details but the extended closure points to a major incident. Closures of more than six hours typically involve extensive recovery or specialized investigation.

The Mountaineer will not be updating overnight.

An MVI 12 kilometres west of Revelstoke on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 11 has led to a closure of the highway expected to last until 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

DriveBC is reporting that both lanes are closed, and that the next update is due at 2:30 a.m.

Multiple emergency response vehicles could be heard leaving for the scene from Revelstoke somewhere around 9 p.m.
