In a March 18 statement, the City of Revelstoke announced it was ceasing all non-essential services to help prevent COVID-19 spread.

Water, sewer and garbage services will continue.

The city says city departments will be available by telephone and email. The city said it’s working on procedures to process finance and development services payments.

“I support the decision to cease non-essential services that will protect our employees and residents and help with flattening the curve,” said Mayor Gary Sulz in the statement. The changes come into effect on Thursday, March 19.

The statement said the city has an emergency operations centre in place, and encouraged residents to follow Interior Health COVID-19 precautionary guidelines.
