Brief: B.C. COVID-19 cases rise by 40 to 271

News of new cases came at daily B.C. COVID-19 update.

On Mar. 19, the B.C. government announced 40 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and one new death.

The announcement by public health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix, and came at the daily press briefing on COVID-19 outbreak.

There are now a total of 271 cases in B.C. 152 are in Vancouver Coastal Health, 81 are in Fraser Health, 22 in Island Health, 12 in Interior Health and 4 in Northern Health.

17 are in hospital and 9 are in intensive care.
